Manchester City maintained their quest for a quadruple this season as they edged Brighton& Hove Albion 1-0 at Wembley to reach the FA Cup final.
The Pep Guardiola’s side were not in their best form, but the game which lacked real contest was settled by Gabriel Jesus’ low header four minutes into the game. Kevin de Bryne had supplied the perfect right-wing cross.
Brighton battled to come back into the game, but could not turn possession into threat, although City defender, Aymeric Laporte, had to clear the ball almost on the goal line after the break when Brighton threatened to score.
Kyle Walker was lucky to escape a first-half red card after a VAR review. He thrusted his head into the face of Alireza Jahanbakhsh when they clashed.
The Cityzens will now face either Watford or Wolves in the final at Wembley on May 18, with the two set to battle in the other semi-final on Sunday.
City remain in the hunt for the Premier League and Champions League. They had won the Carabao Cup earlier in the season.
