Manchester City and Liverpool’s dominance in the Premier League this season has further been headlined, with the clubs producing ten of the eleven players in the PFA Team of the Year.
In a 4-3-3 formation, City’s Ederson was selected as the best goalkeeper. Aymeric Laporte, who also plays for the blue side of Manchester, is the only player not from Liverpool to make the defence line. PFA player of the year, Virgil van Dijk, alongside, Trend Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson completed the back line.
Fernandinho and Bernado Silva are in the midfield, with a surprise shortlist of Manchester United’s Paul Pogba, who despite being inconsistent this campaign, was included in the team.
Sadio Mane and the duo of Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero are in the forward line.
It was the first time in the 45-year history of the award that the PFA team would be selected from just three clubs.
The PFA Awards will be held in London on Sunday.
