A man has approached a Port Harcourt Magiatrates’ Court, seeking to divorce his wife because she lost her job.

The man, who confessed he married his wife while she was working with United Bank of Africa (UBA), said there is no need to keep her because she has lost her job, and can no longer support him financially, West African Reporters say.
“The only reason I married her was that she works at UBA bank and had money, now that she has been sacked, I want a divorce, let us separate,” he told the court.

The man, identified simply as Joshua, further told the court that he graduated from the University of Port Harcourt, but works as a commercial taxi driver.
He lamented that his wife has been wicked to him after their marriage in 2015, because she contributes most to the upkeep of their family.

“In the last four years, I have been enduring her excesses because she provides for the family, now that she has been sacked and has no money to support me why will I still keep her, this is the right time to separate, he also said.
The wife, who according to the report, prefers to be identified as Mama Junior, said she is depressed, and wondered why her husband will think of divorcing her at a time she needs his support the most.

She narrated how she had in the last six years invested her life savings on her husband, despite his inability to secure a job since he graduated from the university.
