A man, Luka Shuaibu, has been sentenced to twelve years in prison for allegedly slitting his girlfriend’s throat at Yobe State, Adamawa.
The suspect, a student of the department of leisure and tourism from the state’s polytechnic is alleged to have committed the act after he saw the victim, identified only as Ishaya, also from the same institution, coming out of another man’s car. Shuaibu had ambushed the latter at her hostel afterwards, beat her up and slit her throat with a knife. Ishaya reportedly survived the attack.
The accused, who was arraigned before a Yola Magistrates’ Court Wednesday, was found guilty of culpable homicide and was denied bail.
The presiding magistrate, Shehu Ahmad, sentenced Shuaibu to twelve years imprisonment.
