A 45-year-old man, Akanji Oluwaseyi, has been arrested by the operatives of the Ogun State police command, for allegedly raping his 13-year-old biological daughter.
Confirming his arrest to journalists, spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said Oluwaseyi was nabbed after his daughter reported the matter at Obantoko Division in Abeokuta on December 30, 2020.
Oyeyemi said the teenager had told the police that her father came to a shop where she was learning fashion designing and pleaded with her mistress to allow her come to the house to fetch water for him.
However, upon arriving at home, the man suddenly grabbed her daughter and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.
“On the strength of the report, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Obantoko division, CSP Sunday Opebiyi quickly sent detectives to the suspect’s house, where he was promptly arrested. He initially denied the allegation, but when he was confronted by his daughter, he became dumbfounded,” Oyeyemi said
The command’s spokesperson stated that the teenager was quickly taken to a hospital for medical attention.
He added that the state commissioner of police, Edward A. Ajogun, has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.
