Benson Kirobi, a 25-year-old man, has launched a social media campaign on Twitter tagged: ‘I Am Looking For My Dad”, after living with a man he thought was his biological father.
Kirobi narrated how the love relationship started between his biological father and his mother in 1995 that had him conceived.
His father subsequently joined the Kenyan army on a peacekeeping mission to Sierra Leone and since then his whereabouts have remained unknown to him and his mother.
He tweeted: “Reason I don’t know my Real father is: He met my mom circa 1995, they dated and that’s how I was conceived. Immediately after, he was called to join the Kenyan Army in a peacekeeping mission in Sierra Leone. So he left!
“My mother settled down with another man. In the late 90s and early 2000s, she asked around about my biological dad’s whereabouts. Did he make it back home from Sierra Leone? She was told that most of the Kenyan soldiers were KIA. She concluded that he was one of the fallen soldiers.
“That’s how I ended up with a ‘foster’ father who, for 25 years, I thought was my real dad.”
Kirobi explained that he recently got to know about the identity of his biological father and the only thing he desires is to meet him, having not known him at all.
“Recently, through a reliable source who my mother had confided in about the Truth of my Real Father, I came to discover that my Biological dad was not KIA, and that he made it back home to Kenya after the Sierra Leone mission.
“All I know at this time is his Name- BENSON OBOTE. Chances are he is alive now. I want to find him and Reconnect,” he added.
