Manchester United transfer target, Jadon Sancho, will remain at Borrusia Dortmund for the 2020/2021 season, the German club has announced.
Dortmund’s Sporting Director, Michael Zorc, stated this to reporters on Monday, noting that “the decision is final”.
Dortmund had given United a deadline of 10 August to complete the transfer of Sancho, stating that it would want to get a replacement quickly and not want any distraction for its pre-season preparation.
Sancho is valued by his club at £108 million but United has struggled to meet the German club’s valuation.
Zorc explained that following the failure of United to complete the transfer, the new contract of the England international has been automatically triggered.
He said: “We plan on having Jadon Sancho in our team this season, the decision is final. I think that answers all our questions.
“Last summer, we adjusted Jadon’s salary to match the development of his performances. So in context, we had already extended his contract until 2023 back then.”
Sancho, who was pictured at a party in the United Kingdom over the weekend, travelled with the Dortmund squad for their pre-season training camp in Switzerland.
