Many persons are feared dead after an 18-seated bus plunged into the Owena River along Akure-Ondo road in Ondo State on Sunday.
The bus was moving from Ondo to Akure, the state capital when it plunged into the river.
The driver lost control as a result of over speeding and fell off the bridge into the Owena river, according to eyewitnesses.
Ahmed Hassan, the Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ondo State, confirmed the incident.
According to Hassan, seven of the passengers have been rescued and taken to the hospital.
He, however, stated that the number of casualties is yet to be ascertained as men of the corps are still battling to rescue the victims.
