A truck fell off the Ojuelegba bridge in Surulere, Lagos, Saturday, trapping a car and passengers underneath.

The sad incident happened on Saturday night, April 2, at a time when the road was busy.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) said via its Twitter handle that the “flat body truck” veered onto the service lane of the road and trapped a Honda car.

Rescue agents brought him out of the wreckage, dead.

According to witnesses, it took some time to get the man out. But he was dead, when he was retrieved.

Accidents caused by falling trailers or unlatched containers are common in Ojuelegba.

No fewer than four of such incidents have been recorded in the past 12 months, because the bridge lacked side rails.
