A former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has asked whoever wins the 2023 presidential election  to push for a constitutional amendment that will make indigenous languages co-official languages with English to avoid many Nigerian languages going extinct in 50 years.

Making this call in a tweet, Omokri who is an ardent supporter of the Atiku Abubakar presidential bid, said many Nigerian languages will die out in 50 years if the move is not made.

“When Waziri Atiku Abubakar becomes President, God willing, he should consider pushing for a constitutional amendment that makes all Nigeria’s indigenous languages co official languages with English. Otherwise many Nigerian languages will die out in 50 years!” Omokri wrote.
