A married woman had one of her nipples bitten off during a scuffle with her neighbor. According to the story told, the victim, Samuel Nwali had demanded from the neighbor, Olotu Chizoba, why she beat her (Nwali) two children. Nwali’s audacity prompted Chizoba to hit her many times with a stick. Both women lurched at each other, during which the 28-year-old Chizoba bit off the Nwali’s nipple.
The matter was reported to the police and Chizoba was arrested.
During Chizoba’s arraignment in court, the prosecutor, Sgt. Lucky Ihiehie, said the accused committed the offence on March 15 at their residence at Ikosi Road.
“The complainant confronted her and the accused, instead of apologising to her, descended on her and used a big stick to beat her.
“She also bit her on her right breast, almost cutting off the nipple.,” Ihiehie said. The police officer said the offence contravened Section 171 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The section prescribes three years for assault occasioning harm.
The accused pleaded guilty to the charge.
However, the prosecutor told the court that both parties were ready for out-of-court settlement.
Presiding Magistrate O. Sule-Amzat consequently struck out the case for out-of-court settlement.
