Bello Matawalle, Zamfara State governor, has approved the suspension of Emir of Zurmi, Atiku Abubakar Muhammad, over alleged link with bandits.
The suspension follows the killings in Kadawa village.
Protesters had last month burnt a section of the emir’s palace, while lamenting that security agents and the emir were not doing enough to protect them from incessant bandit attacks in the area.
The governor, in a statement on Friday announcing the suspension of the emir, directed that Bello Suleiman, the Bunun Kanwa, is to take charge of the affairs of the emirate immediately.
The statement was signed by Kabiru Balarabe, Secretary to the State Government.
Also, a committee has been set up to investigate allegations against the suspended emir over on his involvement in the escalating rate of bandits attacks in his domain.
The committee has been given three weeks to complete its assignment and submit a report.
