Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, claims that millions of Nigerians originated from Mali, adding that President Muhammadu Buhari originated from Niger.
Making this claim in a tweet on Saturday, Omokri argued that people who claim to be Nigerians now ‘originated from somewhere.’
“Literally millions of Nigerians originated from Mali. In North Nigeria, they are sometimes referred to as Bamali, or Bamalle. Others originate from Niger (including Buhari). We all originated from somewhere. But we are now Nigerians. Don’t Mauritania shame anybody!” Omokri wrote.
However, his remarks have sparked backlash, with social media users asserting that Atiku Abubakar, Omokri’s preferred candidate, is Cameroonian.
