Three suspected bandit informants have been lynched by a mob in Zangon Aya community, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The victims identified as Mohammed Gobirawa Abdullahi, his wife, Binta, and his son, Hassan, were reportedly killed when the mob stormed their home on Monday.
Samuel Aruwan, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs in the state, confirmed the incident on Tuesday.
He stated that the mob action was in response to the victims’ suspected collaboration with bandits, especially in relation to recent kidnappings in the area.
Aruwan added that after killing the family members, the mob also looted and burnt their home.
The commissioner added that investigation into the incident is ongoing.
The state governor, Nasir El-Rufai, expressed sadness and deep worry over the extra-judicial killings.
He directed security agencies to conduct thorough investigations into the incident, urging residents to maintain order.
