A mortuary attendant has been arrested in Oghara, Ethiope West Local Government Area, over the missing corpse of Patience Amughoro, a 58-year-old woman, who died after a brief illness.

The family of the deceased discovered her corpse was missing after they arrived the mortuary on Saturday to pick the body.
A family source who identified himself simply as Okiemute told The Nation that the morgue attendant had earlier presented a body but on close examination discovered it was not Amughoro’s body.

“That was when he began searching, pacing up and down looking for the body before admitting the body was missing.
“We were shocked. There was no explanation. We had made arrangements to give our aunt a good send-off, and it hurts that we don’t have her body,” he said.

Edafe Bright, spokesman of the police in Delta State, said investigation is ongoing.
