A 10-year-old girl is currently going through pain after her mother, one Priye Richman from Bayelsa State, unleashed her anger on her for allegedly stealing N1,500.
Richman punished her daughter by cutting her flesh with a razor blade and rubbed a mix of kerosene and pepper into the wounds.
She tied the girl up for the cutting process, then left her to bleed from her cuts and she fled until members of girl-child advocacy groups rescued the girl, according to the Daily Trust.
The groups, comprising Do Foundation, Izon Ladies Association (ILA), and Gender Response Initiative Team, took the girl to a hospital.
Asinim Butswat, the Public Relations Officer of the Bayelsa Police Command, who confirmed the incident, said the girl’s mother has been arrested and taken into police custody while investigation goes on.
Narrating her ordeal, the girl said her mother began beating her after she denied stealing the N1,500.
Meanwhile, Collins Cocodia, Chairman of Collins Cocodia Foundation (CCF), who visited the injured girl in hospital, pledged that his foundation would foot the girl’s medical bills and ensure the girl is fostered with a responsible relative to receive proper care, better care and a change of environment.
