Nkem Ekemedili has blamed the management of Cedar College, Baruwa, in the Ipaja area of Lagos State for the death of her daughter, Favour.
The distraught mother, speaking with PUNCH Metro, said the school management had not been monitoring the girl before she drank a beverage laced with Sniper, an insecticide.
“I don’t have any issue; I leave everything to God. Whatever I say cannot change what has happened. My daughter left my house and went to school; while in the class, was she monitored? But I leave everything to God because whatever I say cannot bring back my daughter,” she stated.
Favour, a Senior Secondary School 1 pupil, was said to have consumed the sniper-laced beverage while receiving lectures with her classmates. She had complained of severe stomachache and was taken to the sick bay for treatment.
The nurse on duty reportedly took her to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital when she was told she had consumed the insecticide.
Samuel Adeliyi, the school principal, said the management had paid a condolence visit to the family.
Bala Elkana, spokesman of the police command in the state, said the remnant of the beverage had been sent to a laboratory for testing.
