Gokada, a motorcycle-hailing company, has sacked 70 per cent of its staff, a report has said.

The action is said to be connected to the recent ban of commercial motorcycles and tricycles in 15 council areas of Lagos State. A report said the company had just spent $3 million recently on purchase of 2,000 motorcycles.
Techpoint reports that Fahim Saleh, Chief Executive Officer of the company, said Gokada was about to start making profit when the ban was announced in January.

Meanwhile, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos has said there is no going back on the ban. He said this on Tuesday while commissioning 14 ferries to assist the deficit in transportation in the state.
