Prince, son of late Professor Godswill Obioma, Registrar and Chief Executive of the National Examination Council (NECO), has confirmed that his father passed away after a brief illness.

Obioma died on Monday in Minna, Niger State.

There have been conflicting reports on the cause of his death.

Some reports say he was assassinated, while others claimed that he died after a brief illness at his residence.

A text message from his son shared by Mustapha Abdul, Director Human Resource Management of NECO, reads:

“Dear Sir, this is to formally inform you that my father Prof. Godswill Obioma the Registrar/Chief Executive of NECO passed to eternal glory yesterday 31/5/2021 after a brief illness.

“We request that you kindly notify the Board, Management and the entire staff of the Council of this development.

“We shall keep you duly informed.”

“Prince Godswill Obioma the 2nd, for the family.”
