Human Rights lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has insisted that there was no case in court against popular hip-hop singer, Oladapo Oyebanjo, commonly called D’Banj.
Newsbreak.ng had reported how D’Banj was accused of fraudulently diverting hundreds of millions of naira earmarked by the Nigerian government for the N-Power scheme, an empowerment programme set up in 2016 to address youth unemployment and increase social development.
He was released on Friday afternoon after three days in custody with the ICPC promising to continue with its probe.
Olajengbesi said his client is clean and he expects the commission to ‘officially clear him’ soon.
He told Punch, “There is no case in court, D’banj was not charged to court by the ICPC.
“They can decide to come up with anything tomorrow, as it is within their power and responsibility.
“They are still doing their investigations and we expect them to clear him officially when they are done with it.”
