Phuthuma Nhleko, MTN CEO, has apologized to the Communications Committee of the House of Representatives over his uncouth reply to his invitation.
“I will like to say categorically that MTN and I takes this body in high esteem. And I apologise wholeheartedly for not attending the previous meeting. I withdraw the letter the committee is referring to. I beg for your forgiveness,” he said.
Nhleko appeared before the Committee probing the N50bn fine payment by the company. Minister of Communication Adebayo Shittu, and Prof. Garba Dambatta, Executive vice chairman of Nigerian Communication Commission, NCC, washed their hands off the payment. Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami denied entering into any agreement with MTN before collecting the said N50bn from it.
