The national stadium and Teslim Balogun Stadium both in Surulere, Lagos, have been temporarily closed.
Newsbreak was reliably informed by a source at the secretariat of the Lagos Sport Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) that the closure was as a result of the planned visit of President Muhammadu Buhari for the All Progressives Congress’ rally on Saturday, 9 February.
“The reason for the closure of the national stadium and also the Teslim Balogun stadium is because President Buhari is coming to Lagos for the APC rally.
“The stadiums were actually closed last Saturday, with men of the Army, Police and Airforce, deployed.
“Both stadiums will be reopened on Monday, February 11,” the source said.
