Top American NBA sides, San Antonio Spurs and Minnesota Timberwolves, have congratulated Nigeria’s D’Tigers for qualifying for Tokyo 2020 Olympic games.

D’Tigers qualified for next year’s Olympics after beating hosts of the 2019 FIBA World Cup, China 86-73, in their final classification game on Sunday.

Spurs and Timberwolves, took to their verified Twitter handle to congratulate D’Tigers, while celebrating their Nigerian players, Chimezie Metu and Joshua Okorie respectively.

“With win versus China at the FIBA World Cup, Chimezie and Nigeria have clinched a spot in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics!”

“Congratulations, Chimezie Metu!” Spurs wrote on their handle.

While Wolves wrote:” JO is going to the 2020 Olympics!!!”

“Congrats, Nigeria!”

D’Tigers will be making their third appearance at the Olympics after debuting at the London 2012 games and also featuring at Rio 2016.
