A total of 1,041 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has been confirmed in the country, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) disclosed late Thursday.
In a post on its Twitter handle, the centre said 316 of the cases were recorded in Lagos State, 210 in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), 83 in Kaduna State, 70 in Plateau State, 56 each in Gombe and Oyo states, 47 in Katsina State, 35 in Nasarawa State, 33 in Kano State, 21 in Ogun State and 17 in Rivers State.
A total of 14 cases each were recorded in Niger and Niger and Imo states, 12 each in Delta, Kwara and Edo states, nine in Benue State, eight in Anambra State, six in Ebonyi State, four each in Taraba and Ekiti states, and one in Bayelsa and Sokoto states respectively.
Six new deaths were announced, bringing the total number of COVID-19 related deaths to 1,242.
These latest cases bring the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Nigeria to 81,963, with the virus spreading to all 36 states and the FCT.
