A total of 1,444 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has been confirmed in the country, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) disclosed late Sunday.

In a post on its Twitter handle, the centre said 901 of the cases were recorded in Lagos State, 136 in Plateau State, 57 in Kaduna State, 54 in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), 53 in Ebonyi State, 52 in Akwa Ibom State, 32 in Nasarawa State, 29 in Osun State, 28 in Ogun State and 16 in Imo and Oyo states.

A total of 15 cases were recorded in Edo State, 14 in Kano State, 10 in Rivers State, seven in Ekiti State, six in Borno State, five in Abia State, four each in Benue and Yobe states, three in Kebbi State and two in Anambra State.

Seven new deaths were also announced, bringing the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in the country to 1,435.

These latest cases bring the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Nigeria to 110,387, with the virus spreading to all 36 states and the FCT.
