1Take Media has wrapped filming of its upcoming dramatic Afro-futurism feature film, “Comatose,” which is set for a 2017 release.
Starring award-winning actors Fabian Adeoye Lojede as Segun and Bimbo Akintola as Omowunmi, the movie wrapped filming after beginning in Durban, South Africa on June 13, 2016, and shifting to Lagos, Nigeria in July, then finishing the final shots again in South Africa in the first week of August.
“It was tough producing and acting at the same time,” recalled Fabian. “We had such an amazing cast that it was worth every stress. I hope the various layers of the film will touch people on different emotional levels.”
Directed by South African director Mickey Madoda Dube,”Comatose” also stars Aissa Maiga as Nandi, Hakeem Kae Kazim as Dr. Kalu, Mary Twala as Nana, Robert Whiteheadas Dr. Collins, and Deborah Lettner as Michelle.
Adapted from a play by the prolific Canadian-Nigerian writer,Jude Idada, “Comatose” follows two siblings, Segun and Omowunmi, as they battle over the life of their ailing mother Nana who is in a coma.
One wants to pull the plug, the other wants to keep her alive. One resides in Lagos, Nigeria and the other in California, United States. In a battle of wills, dark family secrets come to light, relationships are shattered, and the true meaning of love is revealed.
