A new association for lawyers has emerged after the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) split after the emergence of Olumide Akpata as its President last week.

The new association, called New Bar Initiative, is said to have reached out to lawyers, urging them to join to enjoy an association that: Promotes and protects the welfare and wellbeing of its members; protects and projects the dignity of the Legal Profession; ensures the protection of the rights of the citizens; serves as the vanguard for the emancipation of the citizens and the resistance of all oppressive tendencies by promoting the Rule of Law; upholds the dignity and integrity of the legal profession; and facilitates professional growth and economic development of its members.
