Paris Saint-Germain forward, Neymar, has ended his relationship with Brazilian actress, Bruna Marquezine.
The actress confirmed the split at a gala event in Brazil.
The pair have reportedly had an off and on romance over the past six years, but Marquezine revealed they had gone their separate ways again on Thursday.
The 23-year-old was said to have refused to give details about the break-up but insisted that the reason was not about their different political viewpoints, claiming they still had “a lot of love” for one another.
“It was a decision that came from him, but there is a lot of respect, a lot of love, for him and for everything that we have lived for,” she said in an interview.
“You know I do not usually talk about my personal life. I’ll talk about it because I have to talk, but it will only be once.”
There had been suggestions in the Brazil media that the pair had different views over the political situation in their country, which is currently embroiled in a heated presidential election.
However, Marquezine denied it was the reason, but refused to confirm whether they had different views about the political situation.
“I want it to be clear that it would not be for that,” she added.
“It was a decision of him, but there is a lot of love and respect, it’s all right.”
Neymar is expected to feature for the Paris giants this weekend, when they take on Amiens.
The 26-year-old has scored 11 goals in 11 appearances, with four assists so far this season.
But he has been linked with a move back to Barcelona, with several reports saying he is not happy in France.
The French champions also face Napoli in the Champions League next week, as the club continue to target the European trophy, which has eluded it in its history.
