The second case of Coronavirus has been confirmed in Nigeria, the Federal Ministry of Health has disclosed.

Osagie Ehanire, Minister of Health, stated at a press conference at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Benin, Edo State on Monday that the second patient is a Nigerian.
He explained that the Nigerian contracted the virus after having had contact with the country’s index patient, a 44-year-old Italian.
The minister said the Nigerian patient, who has been in isolation in the last two weeks, is under quarantine.

Ehanire urged Nigerians not to panic with the confirmation of the second case, providing assurance that the situation is under control.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) confirmed the case in a post on Twitter on Monday.
“This second case is a contact of the index case, in Ogun State.
“The new case has been in isolation and was tested as part of our strategy to test all contacts of the index case,” the NCDC tweeted.
Nigeria’s index patient arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on 24 February from Milan, Italy, which has the highest number of cases and the death toll in Europe.
He was confirmed to have tested positive for the virus on 27 February after he fell ill a day after his arrival.
