Nigeria Football Supporters Club has congratulated Super Eagles’ duo of Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho on Leicester City’s 1-0 victory over Manchester City in the Community Shield game played Saturday, at Wembley stadium.
In the congratulatory message signed by the National Chairman of NFSC, Amb (Rev) Samuel Ikpea, it described the victory as a welcome development and the needed fillip for the Nigerian players, ahead the new football season.
While midfielder Ndidi started and finished the game, Iheanacho, a 79th minute substitute scored the lone and winning goal via penalty, having been hacked in the box by Nathan Are.
” Nigeria Football Supporters Club are very happy that our players, Ndidi and Iheanacho have continued from where they left last season by winning the first official game of the English new football season.
“On behalf of all football loving Nigerians, and particularly, members of NFSC, home and diaspora, we say big congratulations to our Stars, Ndidi and Iheanacho for winning the community shield.
” We believe this feat would go ahead to spur them into achieving greater achievements this season. And hopefully, it would rub on positively on the Super Eagles,” Ikpea remarked.
