Nigeria’s Under 17 female national team has made history by reaching the semi-finals of the 2022 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in India for the first time.

Since the competition’s start, the Flamingos had never advanced past the quarterfinals, thus they were in for a tough challenge against the Americans’ who have been termed as prolific scorers of the tournament.

Omamuzo Edafe, a defender, scored the Flamingos’ first goal from the penalty spot in the 26th minute, but the Nigerian women were brought back into the game right before halftime thanks to an Amelio Villarreal goal.
