Osagie Ehanire, Minister of Health, has said Nigeria will not subscribe to US’ prescription of chloroquine, an anti-malaria drug, as treatment for the novel Coronavirus.
Ehanire stated this while addressing journalists at a press conference in Abuja on Friday.
Donald Trump, United States president, approved chloroquine on Thursday for use in the country against the disease, which is fast ravaging the US.
However, the minister, while answering a Bloomberg reporter, said Nigeria will only follow World Health Organisation (WHO), guidelines in treating the virus.
“We won’t follow what his excellency, President Donald Trump said. We will only follow what the United Nations say.
“We also have scientists here and we are talking to them,” he said.
