Former Super Eagles of Nigeria striker and manager, Samson Siasia believes Ghana beating Nigeria to deny them a World Cup ticket saved Nigerian fans from suffering pain during the just-concluded tournament in Qatar.

Newsbreak.ng recalls that the Super Eagles failed to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup after losing on the away goals rule against their West African rivals in a two-legged African qualifying fixture in March.

Siasia, who tutored the Super Eagles on two separate occasions, believes if Nigeria had qualified, they could have registered embarrassing scorelines.

“We would have been embarrassed out of the World Cup with shocking score lines,’ Siasia told Football Live, adding: “The Super Eagles have no business going to the World Cup and losing out to the Ghana team we played against is enough proof.”

Ghana, who featured at the 2022 world cup at Nigeria’s expense crashed out at the group stage.

The ‘Black Stars’ finished bottom of Group H with 3 points.
