A Nigerian policeman has been caught on camera begging for a bribe on one of the nation’s highways from a male motorcyclist, who claimed to be a Spaniard.
The video of the encounter was posted on Twitter on Saturday by Abubakar Suleiman, the Chief Executive Officer of Sterling Bank.
The date and the location of the encounter are, however, unknown.
In the over one-minute video, the Spaniard, who apparently wore a body camera, could be heard telling the officer that he rode all the way from Spain to Nigeria.
The policemen then proceed by asking: “What did you bring for us?”
The Spaniard, whose face was not shown in the video and identity remains unknown, said he did not have cash or anything on him, other than his credit card.
The policeman then suggested that the Spaniard changes his foreign currency into Naira so that he could give him money.
However, the Spaniard explained that he needed to continue his journey as he was only riding through Nigeria and needed to get to Cameroon, Gabon, Congo, and South Africa.
But the officer insisted on getting a bribe from him.
“Okay, I have to go,” the man replied, ending the video.
