Nigerians have expressed outrage following the publication of a close circuit television (CCTV) footage of Olanrewaju Omiyinka, a Nollywood actor popularly known as Baba Ijesha, molesting a minor girl.
There has been public outcry following the revelation that Baba Ijesha allegedly raped a girl in the care of popular comedienne, Damilola Adekoya, better known as Princess, when she was seven years old, and purportedly molested her recently at 14 years old.
It was learnt that the recent act was captured on CCTV after it was purportedly instigated by Princess in a bit to catch Baba Ijesha red-handed.
The video was uploaded by the Punch on Sunday, sparking a deluge of reactions from Nigerians both online and offline.
Some commenters criticised the newspaper for publishing such a sensitive and potential court evidence video on the Internet, while others noted that proof of burden has been established and slammed those who were and are still backing the actor.
Leading the catalogue of reactions is Yomi Fabiyi, a Nollywood actor, who was one of those who demanded to see the CCTV footage of the incident when the news of Baba Ijesha’s act was made public.
In a post on Instagram, Fabiyi condemned the actions of Baba Ijesha following the release of the footage.
He, however, also condemned the act of using the minor as bait for Baba Ijesha, who is said to have also molested the girl seven years ago.

Some of Baba Ijesha’s Nollywood colleagues also reacted to the video:
Why just why
On a Sunday? Who told who to post that video?
Are we not supposed to be protecting our girls?
Why is that stupid Baba ijesha video on youtube, IG, FB andTwitter? Someone is profiting off this girl's abuse.

See the reaction of other Nigerians below:
Clearly obvious that :
1. Baba Ijesha has had an encounter with the girl before
2. He was so eager to reconnect with that experience regardless of the unusual circumstance
3. He checked the house for hidden persons
These are typical of psychopaths and molesters

Baba ijesha stood up almost immediately and checked the whole house to be sure he was alone with that little girl. God 😭😭

If Baba ijesha was an ordinary person who isn’t a celebrity I’m sure he’d be in jail by now buh because he’s a popular person they want to sweep it under the ground. Omo Rkelly get money pass Baba ijesha but he still go prison. Baba ijesha has enjoyed his life being free.

Even if Baba Ijesa was set up, why did he fall for it. To those supporting him, have you seen the video. Hope you are satisfied now
— Dr PamPam | Omo Iya Ologi (@UnclePamilerin) May 2, 2021
Baba ijesha is a fool, you came into an apartment and immediately everyone moves out and left the minor sited close to you.
Ko de funra!..😂 3years imprisonment looms😀

I really wish the Baba Ijesha CCTV wasn't released just because my focus is on the victim. Imagine growing up knowing that the video of her assault is on the internet. It's just sad that we live in a society that demands the video of a minor being assaulted before believing them.

People are proudly coming out to say they watched the video of Baba Ijesha , why watch it ?
Why even make it public? This social media is not concerned about justice, if they were they wouldn't need to watch a child get molested to demand for justice.
Please don't watch !

I hear a link to the CCTV footage of Baba Ijesha molesting a child sexually is being spread online.
It is NOT “just kissing”.
It is NOT “just licking”.
It is child pornography.
Watching it is a crime.
Sharing it is a crime.
Having it on your phone is a crime.
Pls tell others.

Baba ijesha should rot in jail 😥💔
I feel like bringing him out of my phone screen and hit him something on his head as I watch that vid

So, i watched that video capturing baba ijesha in the "act"…and then the comment section filled with "na setup"…if there had never been a cause for suspicion in the first place, that camera wouldn't have been setup and positioned where it was..they probably must have been..
— Osinakachi Nyamekye (@ckelvin0911) May 2, 2021
I just watched the Baba Ijesha video.
The punishment of what he did 7 years ago is what just manifested that's why what comes to his mind immediately Princess left the scene is to take sexual advantage of the girl.
Those secrets sins would expose you someday if you don't stop.

If we are following each on here and your first reaction to the baba Ijesha video when you saw it is "na set up" please let's unfollow & block ourselves immediately. You won't be unfortunate in this life & the next Oo. 😒.

Nothing is protected when it comes to women and girls. Why is that stupid Baba ijesha video on Twitter? And on youtube? Someone/business is profiting off this girls abuse. It’s sad.

All the people wanting to see the video of the teenager and Baba Ijesha, there you go. He won’t escape this.
— Dr. Dípò Awójídé (@OgbeniDipo) May 2, 2021
I hope with the CCTV footage evidence, all those that were defending Baba Ijesha can bury their heads in shame now.
— Wale Adetona (@iSlimfit) May 2, 2021
Another user asked if the video can be accepted as evidence should the case go to court because of the purported trap means used in capturing Baba Ijesha molesting the minor.
In law, the trapping of Baba Ijesha is regarded as entrapment. Entrapment is a system adopted by law enforcement agents or private individuals to catch a suspected criminal pants down. We have what is known as fair trapping and unfair trapping.
