The United States Ambassador to Nigeria, Stuart Symington has assured Nigerians that US President, Donald Trump’s travel ban will not affect them. Symington was speaking after speculations surfaced that Trump could ban Nigerians from entering the US after doing same to Syrians, Iraqis, Iranians, Yemenis, Libyans, Somalians and Sudanese.

He was speaking at a media briefing in Abuja on Friday. He also stated that the visa policy remained the same, refuting claims that the validity had been reduced to one year. He said it was important to note that Nigeria and US had a strong connection and will not be discriminated against based on tribe or religion. He stressed that visa denials should not be perceived as discrimination against any individual.
