Nigerians have reacted to the call made by Modupe Odele, a prominent #EndSARS campaigner, for Twitter users to boycott the platform over what she described as harassment of women.
Odele had in a tweet on Wednesday urged all Twitter users to boycott the platform on 9 April to protest the ” consistent harassment and pile-ons from misogynistic men”.
“Twitter is becoming unusable for women all over the world because of consistent harassment and pile-ons from misogynistic men. April 9th Twitter Boycott. #StopTwitterHarrassment.”
The tweet has, however, elicited various responses, with the majority of Twitter users disagreeing with her stance and blasting the lawyer, who is currently based in Washington, the US capital.
According to some of the commenters, it is not only women who are harassed on the social media platform, noting that men are also treated with disrespect or intimidated by false claims made by scrupulous persons.
Others said they will not join in the action as it may negatively affect their business on the said day, while another group of persons insisted it should be a “girlcott” instead of a boycott.
See some of the reactions to Odele’s tweet below:
@Mochievous Seen this?
There are more women using derogatory words on women than men who do so.
Before you think less of the article, it's a research from a $450 million UK analytical company with access to over 80 million resources, and they provide data for many services. pic.twitter.com/dDRsSD32yX

If Twitter was linked with Google AdSense this woman would’ve been swimming in 1000s of Dollars, she has one of the Best Click Baits on this street. Linda Ikeji was a goddess until Moe came & took over. Only Difference is while Linda monetizes her stupidity, Moe does it for free

Men get bullied too you know! The world doesn’t revolves around women only.
They drag Mba head always, and you don’t see men creating an hashtag. That they act like it doesn’t get to them, doesn’t mean it does not get to them. Let’s be considerate please.
