Nigeria’s COVID-19 Toll Exceeds 12,000 As NCDC Confirms 389 New Cases

A total of 389 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has been confirmed in Nigeria, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) disclosed late Saturday.

In a post on its Twitter handle, the centre said 66 of the cases were recorded in Lagos State, 50 in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), 32 in Delta State, 31 in Oyo State, 26 in Borno State, 24 in Rivers State, 23 each in Edo and Ebonyi states, 17 each in Anambra and Gombe states and 14 in Nasarawa State.

NCDC Confirms 1,095 Lassa Fever Cases, 188 Deaths

Twelve cases each were reported in Imo, Kano and Sokoto states, eight in Jigawa State, seven in Ogun State, five in Bauchi State, two each in Kebbi, Katsina, Kaduna and Ondo states and one in Abia and Niger states respectively.

Nine new deaths were also reported, bringing the total number of COVID-19 related fatalities to 342.

This latest figure brings the number of confirmed Coronavirus cases in Nigeria to 12,233, with the virus spreading to 35 states and the FCT.
