Okoi Obono-Obla, the immediate former chairman of the Special Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Public Property (SPIP), has said the judicial system in the country is corrupt.
Obono-Obla, in a recent interview, stated that his faith in the judicial system is low, adding that he can confidently say that there is no justice in Nigeria, Premium Times reports.
The former SPIP boss alleged that the cabal in President Muhammadu Buhari’s government prevailed on him to remove him from office.
He noted that he would not accept any anti-corruption appointment, even if it comes with protection.
He also alleged that some persons in the country are always against the good of the country.
He said: “Right now, I won’t lie, if I am ever offered any anti-corruption work in Nigeria, I will be very sceptical about taking it, even if there’s protection.
“I worked and was bent on doing the right thing, in consonance with the real demands of that assignment but there are people in this country who will never let good things happen to this country.”
Obono-Obla who was accused of forgery and declared wanted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
However, he dragged the anti-graft agency to court to challenge the allegation, on the grounds that the agency was already prejudiced against him.
He claimed that the ICPC did not invite him for questioning, saying that being declared wanted by the commission is an attempt to ridicule and embarrass him.
