The Nigeria Immigration Service has arrested 39 Nigerien illegal immigrants in Kwara state. The Comptroller of the Kwara State Command of the service, Abimbola Abiodun-Ojo, said the suspects were arrested at different locations of the Sango, Oke-Oyi areas of Ilorin, the state capital. She said some Nigerians were initially arrested but had since been released with their camels when they were found to be indigenes of Sokoto State. She warned that the immigrants could become security threats and would be repatriated to their country as soon as possible. She stated that the action was not a move against foreigners in the country but to remind them that the laws of the country be adhered to and they should get relevant immigration documents and approvals.
