Although former Jigawa state Governor Sule Lamido and his two sons, Aminu and Mustapha, got a reprieve from their trial for money laundering, their travel passports were seized. They are being tried for N1.3bn fraud at the Federal High Court, in Abuja. The trial judge, Gabriel Kolawole, Tuesday, granted them bail for N25m and two sureties each.
One of the sureties, Kolawole stated, must be a grade level 16 civil servant in either a federal or state establishment, while the othe must be an entrepreneur, who must own a property worth N75m, located in Abuja, Kano or Jigawa. .
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, is accusing the Lamidos of laundering state funds through four companies owned by them.
