Coach of Enugu Rangers, Gbenga Ogunbote, has rued his team’s wasted goal opportunities against Lobi Stars in their Super six clash at the Agege Township Stadium, Lagos, on Thursday.
Though the 2016 Nigeria Professional Football League Champions won the match 2-1, but Ogunbote stated that the scoreline could have been better, if his players had taken their chances.
“We have our way of doing things in the second half, we expected to come out and to want to rush. We wanted to play on counter and we had it, if my boys had taken the chances; we wasted as many as four chances, but be it as it may the final result was 2-1,”Ogunbote told Brila.net on Friday.
The result brought some relief to the Aiteo Cup holders, following their 1-0 defeat to Enyimba in their first game.
Godwin Aguda gave the Flying Antelops the lead in the 13th minute, before Chiamaka Madu doubled their lead fifteen minutes later. The league champions, however, rallied to pull one back later in the game.
