Jimoh Buhari, spokesman of Musiliu Akinsanya, aka MC Oluomo, Lagos State Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), has said no member of the union was involved in the fracas with Okada riders in Iyana-Iba and Ojo area of the state on Monday.
Buhari, who spoke in an exclusive interview with The PUNCH on Monday, said another transport union in the state, the Road Transport Employers’ Association Of Nigeria, was involved in the clash.
“NURTW was not involved in the clash. RTEAN and its Okada arm were the ones involved in the clash,” he told The PUNCH.
RTEAN officials and Okada riders had clashed over tariff increment.
Muyiwa Adejobi, spokesman for Lagos State Police Command, in a statement said normalcy has been restored to the affected areas.
He added that Hakeem Odumosu, the Commissioner of Police in the state, has ordered the immediate deployment of additional police personnel in the area to maintain law and order.
Adejobi also siad okada riders in the area have been invited to a meeting.
