Veteran journalist and lawyer, Richard Akinola on Tuesday said former president Olusegun Obasanjo does not care about what anyone says about him.
Newsbreak.ng reports that the endorsement of Peter Obi (Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP) by Obasanjo on Sunday sparked reactions across rival political camps, with the All Progressives Congress (APC) describing it as a ‘worthless’ political move, adding that it would not affect the ambition of its presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) also shared a similar view.
Reacting via a Facebook post, Akinola said Obasanjo was aware of the after-effect of his formal stance and would be unbothered.
“Not a good way to start the year. Obj (referring to Obasanjo) give una assignment and una fall for it. Kia kia, una don carry exercise book, dey do his assignment- for two days now, na so so Obasanjo – expletives, insults, abuses.
“Meanwhile, the Obasanjo that l know from afar, doesn’t even care what anyone says about him because he expected these reactions and I’m just amused how people are are having sleepless nights over his new year statement. The man no even send una.
“I have never liked Obasanjo but he is entitled to his opinion. He chose to make his public, while there are others who are very deft, they have their own endorsements but would rather surreptitiously work behind the scenes in favour of their preferred person. Those ones are more dangerous,” Akinnola wrote.
