Festus Keyamo, one of the spokespersons of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential campaign council has again downplayed the endorsement received by Peter Obi, Labour Party presidential candidate from prominent South-South leader, Edwin Clark.
Edwin Clark had on Tuesday towed the part of former President Olusegun Obasanjo by endorsing Obi to emerge as the country’s leader in 2023.
Mr Clark had in Abuja said that he was “Convinced beyond doubt that our country Nigeria has a great opportunity to elect a phenomenal team, the candidate of the Labour Party, and his deputy, senator Datti Baba-Ahmad, as president and vice president respectively.”
However, in response to news of the recent endorsements, Keyamo said in a tweet that Obasanjo and Mr. Clark’s endorsements are invalid because Buhari won the 2019 presidential election despite not receiving their backing.
“Same thing I said for OBJ that applies to my respected father, Edwin Clark. These are elders who endorsed Atiku Abubakar in 2019. The votes they gave Atiku in 2019, they have carried those votes to Obi. My father, Edwin Clark HAS NEVER SUPPORTED APC for the Presidency since 2015,” Keyamo wrote.
