Secretaries to State Governments, SSGs, have called for increased Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, in states governed by the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The resolution, among others, was reached after a two-day inaugural quarterly meeting, in which the SSGs suggested a private sector model and technologies for increasing state revenue base. The SSGs also urged states to create initiatives that will reduce social tension and poverty; funding of intra and interstate infrastructural development for effective integration and mobility of persons, goods and services. They also urged states to cooperate on bilateral and multilateral levels on issues such as agriculture and youth employment.
Equally, information-sharing among members and synergy for sustainable development were the other recommendations agreed at the meeting.
Aside the SSG, other attendees are representative of the World Bank, while Lagos Governor Akinwunmi Ambode declared the event open. The next meeting of the forum is scheduled for Sokoto.
