Fifty-four Nigerian pilgrims died and 61 others were wounded in Mina, Saudi Arabia tragedy, Abdullahi Mukhtar, chairman, National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, said on Monday. Over 700 pilgrims died in a stampede during the ritual of stoning of Satan last week. The deceased Nigerian pilgrims hailed from Bauchi, Borno, Jigawa, Cross Rivers, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Nassarawa, Niger, Ogun, Ondo, Sokoto, Yobe, Taraba, and Zamfara, Mukhtar said at a press conference. He said investigation on some others found to be missing persons have begun, while three committees have been set up to condole with the families of the deceased and arrange their burial.
