The apex socio-cultural organisation in the southeast region, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has denied reports that it dragged Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State to Igbo deities over his negative comments on Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party.
Newsbreak.ng reports that this was revealed on Wednesday in a statement by Ohanaeze’s National Public Secretary, Alex Ogbonnia titled, ‘Soludo to Deity – A Disclaimer’.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has never contemplated consultation to deities in seeking solutions for the Igbo dilemma.
“The Igbo are profoundly endowed in various ways least of which is a resort to deities,” the statement partly reads.
This newspaper understands that the association which dragged Soludo to Igbo deities is different from Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the group headed by George Obiozor.
In an article published on Monday, Soludo had said Obi knows that “he can’t and won’t win” the 2023 presidential election. This evoked strong reactions on social media.
