Babafemi OJudu, an All Progressive Congress governorship aspirant in the Ekiti state gubernatorial election holding in July, has vowed to sue the state government over the alleged removal of his campaign billboards.
The state government was said to have mobilised some policemen to remove Ojudu’s campaign billboards from strategic areas in the state.
“We have briefed our lawyers and all necessary legal actions are already being taken on the issue,” OJudu said in an interview with The PUNCH on Sunday.
Ojudu, who is also a Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Political Matters, said he would not be “intimidated or harassed” by the state governor, Ayodele Fayose and his aides.
However, Lere Olayinka, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Communications and New Media said that Ojudu erected his campaign billboards without seeking the approval of the Ekiti State signage agency and making necessary payments.
He said OJudu’s move contravened the state law.
“Senator Ojudu is behaving as if Ekiti belongs to him. He thinks he can do whatever he likes and get away with it. Ojudu knows the law, yet he chooses to flout it. Even when the agency approached him with the levies, he still ignored them. If I were him, I would have paid that money and watch to see what the state government would do next,” Olayinka said.
