Blessing Okagbare on Saturday set a new 200m African record at the Wes Kittley Invitational Track and Field Meet. She ran an impressive 22.04 seconds to erase Mary Onyali’s 22.07 seconds set at a Meet in Switzerland in 1996.
Okagbare also becomes the new national record holder in women’s 200m. She holds the Nigerian records in women’s 100m (10.79s) and 200m. She is one of the athletes to represent Nigeria at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia. The games start on April 4, 2018.
